          CAPE TOWN INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION CENTRE
 
  
The Cape Town International Convention Centre Company (Convenco) was established in mid-1999 by the Western Cape Provincial Government, the City of Cape Town and Business Cape to develop a world-class convention centre on the 6.1-hectare site currently occupied by the CTICC on Cape Town's northern Foreshore.
 
Convenco owns the centre and is the holding company that was responsible for the establishment of the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC).  The establishment and operating costs of Convenco were funded by the City of Cape Town and the Provincial Government of the Western Cape. 
 
The CTICC cost a total of R582-million to build and the funding was provided by The City of Cape Town R284-m; The Provincial Government of Western Cape R142-m; SunWest International R140-m; Convenco internally generated R16-million.  The public sector shareholders have voting control of the company.
